What do you see when you look in the mirror? As I consider this question, it saddens me to think how most women (no matter how beautiful) only see flaws in the reflection staring back at them. “Where did that line come from? That wasn’t there before!” And when a tiny bump starts to surface, my mind jumps straight into “Why am I soooo broken out?!” mode.

For many years now, the size of my pores has been a huge concern to me. I’ve always had oily skin and growing up I was prone to bad breakouts. Now that I’ve worked in the aesthetics industry for over a year, my skin is clearer than it’s ever been. With that being said, when I look in the mirror I still see those little holes staring back at me throughout my upper cheek area and T-zone.

Recently our practice started offering a treatment created by Rejuvapen called microneedling. We were so excited to bring it on because it is a great overall remedy. It helps with pigment, scarring, and even helps to soften fine lines and wrinkles while giving your skin a boost in collagen levels. To my own advantage (drumroll please), it helps to diminish the appearance of pores!

I was a little uneasy going into the procedure because my pain tolerance levels are, let’s just say, not tremendously high. I was excited to learn that I was required to numb before being treated with Rejuvapen. Licensed Aesthetician Neko Shae made sure that numbing cream was applied liberally all over my face and I was instructed to sit tight for about 20 minutes before we could proceed.

Neko made sure I was perfectly comfortable before beginning my treatment. When she started, I could hardly even tell she was going hard after my areas of concern. The sensation I felt was like a tiny vibrating pin gliding all over my face. Truth be told, if the treatment had taken much longer, I may have even dozed off!

When Neko was done, she made sure my skin was covered with everything it needed to provide protection and to increase the treatment’s effectiveness. When I looked in the mirror, I saw some “pinkness” similar to that seen in a sunburn. By the next day, the color had essentially faded and I was ready to face the world with my resurfaced skin! I can’t wait to see what the next 3 weeks holds as my skin continues to improve as a result of using Rejuvapen. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with concerns similar to mine!
